Cybutryne added to hazardous materials list

The toxic substance and environmental contaminant was first banned from use in anti-fouling systems in January 2023.

Classification society, ClassNK’s ‘Guidelines for the Inventory of Hazardous Materials’ has been updated as Ver 5.00 reflecting RESOLUTION MEPC.379(80), which can be downloaded from the ClassNK Website-MyPage. Up-to-date blank forms of Material Declaration adding cybutryne can also be found on the society’s website.

PrimeShip-GREEN/SRM, assisting in development of IHM in the new-ship method, will be modified by 1 December 2023.

For development of the IHM of a newbuild, ClassNK will require that shipyards should receive Material Declarations in the up-to-date form from the suppliers with effect from 1 December 2023.

Material Declaration for a ship in operation is required to be made in the up-to-date form which adds cybutoryne with immediate effect.
