China’s first domestically built cruise ship prepares for maiden voyage

The diesel-electric newbuild will start her career operating out of the new Wusongku International Cruise Liner Terminal at Shanghai under the aegis of Adora Cruises, formerly CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping. 

The power plant in Adora Magic City is based on five medium-speed diesel generator sets of an aggregate 62,400kW maximum output, feeding the electric motors integral to a pair of Azipod azimuthing propulsion units and all other main shipboard consumers. The power concentration promises a speed of the order of 23 knots.

Wärtsilä ANCS, part of technology group Wärtsilä, has delivered to the vessel a suite of solutions including the NACOS Platinum Valmatic automation and control system, valve control system, low location lighting, navigation system, engine and bridge control room console, and smart motor control unit. Additionally, Wärtsilä supplied the vessel’s bow thruster system, as well as its dynamic trim system and cable and steel parts supply.
