NavFleet 2.1, automates complex “well-to-wake” calculations and provides a user-friendly interface rich in regulatory and business insights. With enhanced visuals and fully integrated digital logbooks, the platform ensures seamless data validation and verification, enabling shipowners to calculate penalty costs accurately and generate EU Statements for compliance with CII, EU ETS, and FuelEU Maritime requirements.

Tor Håkon Svanes (pictured), NavFleet product manager, described the platform as “an intuitive, easy pathway” to navigate the complexities of the new regulatory framework. He highlighted that FuelEU Maritime demands extensive calculations and data handling, presenting significant challenges for shipowners and operators. According to Svanes, NavFleet 2.1 does the “heavy lifting” by presenting insights through dashboards that provide fleet overviews, vessel-specific data, fuel consumption (both within and outside the EU), GHG intensity KPIs, emissions, and penalty costs.

Svanes emphasised that the costs of non-compliance or calculation errors could be substantial and are expected to increase over time. He added that intelligent systems like NavFleet 2.1, which validate data both automatically and with domain experts, are crucial for achieving compliance. The platform enables reports to be generated with detailed evidence, offering transparency on GHG intensity balances and penalty costs. This capability also supports shipowners in passing on penalty costs to charterers under FuelEU Maritime and allocating EU ETS allowance costs.

The update integrates digital logbooks, giving onshore teams access to real-time data, further enhancing monitoring and optimisation across fleets. New features include notifications, improved vessel monitoring parameters, and an interactive globe that visually represents fleet activity and data. This feature can be used by management teams or displayed prominently in offices to showcase global operations.

Svanes described the release as “a milestone” in NavFleet’s evolution, underlining Navtor’s commitment to continual development to meet industry demands and address fleet management challenges. He noted that the innovations not only simplify regulatory compliance but also provide shipping companies with the insights needed to evaluate compliance options well into the future.
