Daphne Technology and Williams secure DOE grant for Methane reduction tech
The project, named “Daphne and Williams Methane Slip Abatement Plasma-Catalyst Scale-Up”, underscores the pivotal role of technological innovation in addressing methane emissions.
The partnership between Daphne Technology and Williams aims to advance methane abatement solutions in alignment with MERP’s objectives. Daphne Technology’s focus is on reducing methane slip—methane emissions in the exhaust of natural gas engines—through its proprietary SlipPure™ plasma-catalytic technology.
As part of the initiative, Daphne Technology will deploy its SlipPure™ systems on four natural gas engines operated by Williams in the United States. Williams will support the project by installing and running the systems, ensuring they are tested across a variety of operational and environmental conditions. The comprehensive testing phase will assess the performance, adaptability, and economic viability of the technology, targeting one of the energy sector’s most pressing environmental challenges.
By employing SlipPure™ to mitigate methane emissions, the project aspires to deliver an adaptable solution to a critical issue in the natural gas industry. Jamie Brick, Managing Director North America at Daphne Technology, highlighted the importance of the collaboration: “We look forward to working with Williams in deploying our SlipPure™ technology across their assets. Partnering with an industrial leader like Williams enables us to drive impactful solutions that reduce methane emissions while making meaningful progress in combating climate change. This collaboration underscores the importance of collective efforts in addressing one of the most urgent climate challenges.”
Williams vice president of New Energy Ventures, Jaclyn Presnal, expressed optimism about the initiative: “As natural gas demand continues to grow, we are excited to work hand-in-hand with Daphne on this decarbonisation initiative. We are optimistic that the results of the pilot phase will lead to widespread adoption. By embracing innovative technology and practical solutions to reduce emissions, we are setting a new standard for the industry and helping to achieve climate goals for ourselves and our customers.”
