Each location will host a dedicated team providing sales and aftermarket services, including the supply of spare parts and technical support. By establishing a presence in both cities, the company aims to improve response times and strengthen customer support for vessels operating with Kongsberg Maritime equipment.

The announcement was made during the Inamarine Expo in Jakarta, at an event attended by the Norwegian Ambassador to Indonesia, Rut Krüger Giverin.

Patrick Banks, vice president of aftermarket sales for the Asia-Pacific region, noted Indonesia’s significance as a maritime nation. “Jakarta and Batam are both key maritime centres. Jakarta is a hub for shipping operations, maritime trade and government agencies, while Batam, home to the highest concentration of shipyards in Indonesia, plays a central role in shipbuilding and repair,” he said.

Indonesia’s growing shipbuilding and shipping sectors have prompted increased demand for localised support and services. Kongsberg Maritime’s expansion is intended to provide closer customer engagement and more efficient lifecycle support for its installed systems across the region.
