MOL launches DP training centre

A memorandum of agreement was signed on 29 July 2025, with the first training course set to begin on 1 September 2025.

The facility features a DP simulator identical to those used aboard MOL’s specialised vessels, allowing trainees to gain experience in a realistic operational environment. It will offer DP training to seafarers and engineers involved in offshore wind power and ocean development projects.

The centre offers a range of Nautical Institute-accredited courses, including:

• DP Induction Course: An entry-level course covering DP system fundamentals and operational risk management.
• DP Simulator Course: An advanced training programme developing hands-on DP operation and troubleshooting skills.
• DP Sea Time Reduction Course: Allows trainees to reduce required onboard DP experience through simulator-based instruction.
• DP Revalidation/Refresher and Competency Assessment Course: For certified DPOs needing to renew or refresh their credentials.
• DP Vessel Maintainer Course: Designed for technical staff maintaining DP systems, covering inspection and fault diagnosis.

As demand for DP-certified personnel rises across Asia, the centre will play a critical role in training Filipino and regional seafarers and technicians. The initiative supports MOL’s broader commitment to the offshore renewable energy industry and the development of maritime professionals in Asia.
