GLO Marine expands Romanian production

Construction of the facility is already underway and is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with production scheduled to begin in February 2027.

“Our ambition is not just growth, but leadership,” said Alin Pohilcă, operations director and shareholder at GLO Marine.

“We are building GLO Marine to become a benchmark for quality and reliability in end-to-end vessel upgrades. Leadership in this space requires full control over the execution chain, from engineering to final delivery.”

According to GLO Marine, the investment reflects growing demand for integrated execution in vessel upgrade projects, particularly as decarbonisation programmes and offshore mobilisation scopes become increasingly electrically driven and structurally complex.

By bringing mechanical fabrication and electrical integration in-house, the company aims to reduce interface risks between contractors, shorten onboard installation periods and maintain tighter control over quality and delivery timelines.

The Galați facility will support the manufacture of steel structures, piping systems, skids and modules, alongside electrical panels and switchboards. It will also enable the pre-integration of decarbonisation technologies such as shorepower systems and hybrid-ready electrical packages.

The investment represents a step in the company’s strategy to increase operational autonomy and deliver complex retrofit projects across European and international maritime markets.
