Under the agreement, the new vessels will be equipped with Jotun’s antifouling coating systems, designed to reduce hull resistance, improve fuel efficiency and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Selected vessels will also be assessed for the application of hull skating solutions, with installations determined by operational requirements.

The collaboration supports Jotun’s Clean Shipping Commitment, which aims to reduce carbon emissions, preserve fuel and help protect marine biodiversity through improved hull performance.

Nikos Markakis, general manager of JCMC, said the agreement reinforced the company’s shared commitment to improving shipping sustainability.

“This agreement represents an important milestone in our long-standing cooperation,” he said. “By continuously enhancing our hull performance solutions and services, we aim to support our customers in improving fleet efficiency and progressing their decarbonisation ambitions.”

COSCO SHIPPING Bulk said the partnership would contribute to the environmental performance of its expanding fleet while supporting its wider decarbonisation strategy.

Song Hourong, general manager of the Technology & Innovation Division at COSCO SHIPPING Bulk, said: “This cooperation will further enhance the environmental performance and operational efficiency of our newbuilding fleet, supporting the sustainable development of the shipping industry.”
