STN Atlas adds dual-channel unit

The DESO range of survey echo sounders from STN Atlas Marine Electronics has been augmented with the introduction of the Atlas DESO 17. It is designed for use on small survey vessels or as part of a fully integrated hydrographic system and can be used in either single- or dual-channel mode. For dual-channel operations using frequencies of 33 and 210kHz, sounding results and depths are presented simultaneously on paper as well as digitally.

The basic DESO 17 unit operates over depths from 0.2m to 650m, while the DESO 17DS is designed for ranges of between 0.5m and 1,500m. Both have a resolution of 1cm while allowing simultaneous full width, or split recording of channels, says STN Atlas.

Both models are computer-controllable for remote operation and incorporate a wide range of interfaces for connection to processing equipment, says the company.
