The latest through-coating multiple echo ultrasonic thickness gauge from Cygnus Instruments has a lightweight and environmentally sealed IP65 case with a backlit liquid crystal display which can be viewed in conditions from bright sunlight to complete darkness, says the company.

Called Cygnus 4, it is designed to measure in the range of 1-200mm through coatings in excess of 6mm. The instrument can be calibrated either against a 15mm steel test piece which is supplied with the gauge, or by a known velocity of sound.

The Cygnus 4 can also freeze and hold the displayed thickness measurement for easier verification by a third party. With the absence of probe zeroing, calibration is quick, simple and accurate, says Cygnus. Fax: +44 1305 269960.
