Cargo ship duo

Dutch yard Niestern Sander BV has secured a two-ship order from owner Wijnne & Barends Cargadoors en Agentuurkantoren, of Delfzijl, in The Netherlands. The pair of cargo ships, hull nos 904 and 905, will be of a new design with draught based on the 3,000 dwt and 4,000 dwt series of ships built by the yard over the past eight years, the last of which was delivered at the beginning of this year.

The two newbuildings will have a deadweight capacity of 5,400t and a hold capacity of 7,380m

for carrying dry cargo. They are also configured for a container capacity of 348 TEU and will be fitted with a gantry crane of 35t lift capacity. They will be constructed to ice class rules. Propulsion for a service speed of 15.5 knots will be via a single main engine developing 2,800kW (3,806 bhp).

Niestern Sander has also recently added a chemical/oil tanker of 10,000m

capacity to its newbuilding orderbook. The vessel, hull no 812, has been ordered by French owner Petromarine for delivery at the end of next year.
