Portable cleaner for chemical carriers
A lightweight portable tank cleaning machine has been launched by Butterworth for use in chemical tankers. The unit either uses the wash water as lubrication, or a sealed grease-lubricated gearbox is offered as an option. Nozzles are available in 6mm, 8mm, 10mm or 12mm,and provide 2 – 12 bar fluid pressure with a 3.6 – 36 m
3
/hr discharge rate.
Washing fluid is supplied from an external pump which drives an internal turbine. The turbine transmits power to gears that rotate both the body of the machine and the nozzles about two perpendicular axes. This produces a cleaning pattern which criss-crosses and overlaps to completely clean the tank, says Butterworth. The complete four-part wash cycle takes from seven to 40 mins.
