The smallest of the South Korean yards, Hanjin Heavy Industries, has won an order for three post-panamax container ships for Mediterranean Shipping Company. The yard will build the 4,050 TEU capacity vessels at a cost of $40 million each, some $14 million lower than the cost per unit of two similar vessels contracted at the yard by the same owner at the end of 1997.The three 40,000g, 40,700 dwt newbuildings are scheduled for delivery this year and 2000.
