Bigger packages from Alpha

MAN B&W`s Alpha Diesel has picked up its first order for a complete propulsion package for a 50cm bore low-speed engine. The 7S50MC-C VBS complete with a CPP and controls is destined for JO Tankers` chemical tanker under construction at Kvaerner Floro in Norway.

The engine`s nominal rating is 11,000kW (15,000 bhp) at 127 rev/min and the 37,500 dwt tanker will be delivered at the end of 2000. As yet there are no orders for the 60cm bore engine propulsion packages recently added to the company`s product line up.
