Cruise boost for Chantiers de l`Atlantique

New tonnage orders for the cruise industry continue with French yard Chantiers de l`Atlantique securing a construction contract from operator Radisson Seven Seas France. Ordered is a 46,000t newbuilding scheduled to be delivered in early 2001.

According to the yard, the vessel has been designed for the luxury end of the market; it will feature a total of 336 cabins, all of which will have balconies, for the maximum complement of 760 passengers.

Propulsion for a service speed of 19.5 knots will be via diesel electric podded drives developing a total of 16,600kW (22,569 bhp).
