Sulzer RTA68T-B orders

Wartsila NSD has secured the first order for its low-speed RTA68T-B engines from the Polish shipyard Stocznia Gdynia. The two six-cylinder engines will be installed in a duo of 78,500m3 LPG carriers for Bergesen DY AS.

Each 68cm bore engine has a stroke of 2.72m and will produce 17,640kW (24,000 bhp) at 94 rev/min, giving the vessels a service speed of 18 knots. The engines will be built by Polish licensee H Cegielski and the vessels are scheduled for delivery in June and December 2000.
