The 21st annual Motor Ship Marine Propulsion Conference takes place at the Athenaeum Inter-Continental Hotel, Athens on March 23 Š 24, 1999.

Why is the conference in Athens this year?
The Greek owned fleet is the largest in the world, and Greek principals have substantial newbuilding programmes for tankers, container vessels, dry cargo tonnage, ferries and cruise ships under way and under consideration. Athens/Piraeus is a major centre for technical management and operations, and is easily accessible from Europe and the world.

Allied to this, the Athenaeum Inter-Continental Hotel offers superb facilities, and top quality accommodation is being made available to delegates at very reasonable rates.

The Motor Ship has the co-operation of the Greek CIMAC Association and the Hellenic Joint Branch of the Institute of Marine Engineers and Royal Institute of Naval Architects to ensure that the event is well publicised and supported locally.

The social element is an important part of any successful meeting, and the Marine Propulsion Conference is well known as the place to meet and talk with the industry`s key players.

The highlight is the annual cocktail party, which is being sponsored this year by the American Bureau of Shipping and Shell Marine Products. It will take place in the Hellenic Maritime Museum in Piraeus, a fascinating setting which houses a collection of Greek maritime antiquities, models, maps and paintings. Participants will have the chance to meet in a more relaxed atmosphere, to catch up on the latest gossip, renew old acquaintances, and make new contacts.
