P&O books Oriana

P&O Cruises` flagship Oriana will undergo a two and a half week refit at A&P`s Southampton yard commencing April 14. It is the second scheduled refit for the 1995-built vessel.

The programme to be carried out by A&P includes standard drydock work with sea valve maintenance, thruster inspection and overhaul, and main and auxiliary engine maintenance. The hull will be fully coated below the waterline, and superstructure repainted. In addition, hotel work will occupy up to 400 subcontractors.

P&O Cruises` technical manager David Strawford comments, “A&P won this contract because it was able to meet our requirements in terms of time-scale, quality and price. The company has a good track record in the cruise sector, and has just completed successful refits on two P&O vessels.”
