Syncrolift for Abu Dhabi

Details of the Syncrolift shiplift system that will form the heart of the new Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding (ADSB) yard have been released.

The new lift will measure 120 x 25m and operate with 34 x 325t hoists. The platform will be rated at a maximum net lifting capacity of 9,000t, and will be fitted with Syncrolift`s ATLAS control system. Installation is scheduled for completion at the end of 2,000.

ADSB is a joint stock company managed by a team from Newport News. The new yard is being built in the Mussafah industrial area and will be involved in both military and commercial repair and newbuilding work.
