Cruise ship sinks

The 30,400g, 1963-built vessel was in the Malacca Strait and believed to be carrying 632 crew and 472 passengers when the incident happened.

Passengers and crew abandoned ship using over 20 lifeboats and liferafts two hours after the fire broke out – all were picked up within two hours.

Reports indicate a blackout hampered fire fighting efforts, and eight hours after the incident started, the ship capsized and sank.
