Following the settlement of the dispute, all litigation has been dropped and the US-based LISCR will take over as planned. International Registries will continue to administer the Marshall Islands registry.

To assist its operation, LISCR is setting up the Liberian Maritime Advisory Board which will be based in London. Jim Davis has been appointed as chairman and the board will consist of nine members representing the interests of shipowners, maritime lawyers, shipping regulators financiers and the general shipping community.

In March, 27 vessels totalling 800,000g joined the Liberian register, which is the second largest, and now stands at just under 2,000 ships.
