Deutz adds duo

Two new marine engines, the 1013 and 1015, have been added to the Deutz range. Both are marinised versions of established distillate-burning engines with power outputs (for genset use) of 80 to 155kW (210 bhp) and 210 to 413kW (561 bhp) respectively.

The 1013 engine has a 108mm bore with a 130mm stroke, comes in four- or six-cylinder versions and can be specified at 1,500 or 1,800 rev/min. It uses two valves per cylinder with individual (1,000 to 1,600 bar) camshaft driven pumps, giving fuel consumption of 195 g/kWh.

The 1015 engine (132 x 145mm) comes in vee six or vee eight versions and has the same speed options and specific fuel consumption as the smaller engine. It has four valves per cylinder and an in-line (1,200-1,600 bar) injection pump with mechanical or electrical governor options.

Twin turbo-chargers are used and up to three gear driven PTOs can be driven from the engine. To comply with SOLAS rules, both engine ranges have water cooling of the exhaust manifold and turbocharger(s).

Both ranges are said to meet all emission requirements beyond the year 2005 and are approved by most classification societies. They will be available from the first half of 2000.
