…and Carnival exercises option

Following in the wake of Princess Cruises’ new order, Carnival Cruise Lines has announced that it has decided to exercise its option to build another 84,000g cruise ship at Kvaerner Masa-Yards Helsinki New Shipyard. The vessel will be named Carnival Pride and will be a sister ship to Carnival Spirit which is currently under construction at the yard.

The new ship will cost approximately $375 million to build and is scheduled to be delivered in late 2001. It will be the tenth vessel that the Finnish yard has constructed for the US cruise giant. Carnival also has an additional option for a similar vessel remaining at Kvaerner Masa-Yards.
