Portable package for shipboard projects

The Drew Marine has introduced the New Era portable wire-welding package. The package includes the Amerarc I-400GMS inverter arc welding machine, Merarc F-4 wire feeder and Merarc No.4 MIG gun. The equipment is designed to use inverter technology for high volume, fast-turnaround, shipboard projects and permits the use of the traditional gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process, as well as flux cored arc welding (FCAW), says the company.

The Amerarc equipment is configured to deliver shielding gas, welding current and a continuous filler metal electrode through the MIG gun. Because the wire is fed continuously, welding can continue without stopping until the weld joint is completed, eliminating stub loss while speeding production, says Drew Marine.

Suitable for most commercial metals and alloys, the process is also the best method for achieving fast, attractive results in welding aluminium and produces no heavy slag, which minimises cleanup, says the company.

Drew Marine has also introduced Dual Shield 70 Ultra Plus flux-cored welding wire for use with the FCAW process.
