Friction restriction

Fuel economy savings of between five and seven per cent are said to be obtainable from using Energy Release anti-friction oil additive. The product can be mixed with any lubricating or hydraulic oil and contains spherical organic molecules that are said to be permanently inserted in the metal surface.

Once the active substance is in place it is said to cut friction by up to 25 per cent, as well as reducing wear and lowering temperatures within the engine. Two-stroke engine builder Dieselmotorenwerk Rostock used the product at five per cent concentration in the cylinder lubricant and found that it could reduce the cylinder feed rate by 30 per cent, and the running-in period by 40 per cent.

During running in, and in problem engines the maker recommends that Energy Release is used at a concentration of five per cent, but that this can be reduced to 2.5 per cent in properly functioning engines. For cylinder lubricant the recommended rate is currently 0.5 – 1 per cent, but this may be reduced in the light of wider experience, says the company.
