Canadian tanker gets Rise

Importer

The rubber insert sleeves expanding (Rise) system for the sealing of multiple pipe and cable bulkhead transits has been used for the fire safe and smoke-tight ducting of cables through all the bulkheads and decks on board the new Canadian tanker Kometik.

With an overall length of 271.8m the 120,536 dwt vessel was built by Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea to carry crude oil from the Hibernia field to a number of terminals in North America. The vessel features a double hull and is equipped with 14 cargo tanks with a total capacity of about 140,000m3. With the Rise system, all cables passing through the conduit opening are enclosed in protective sleeves made of fire resistant rubber/low grade expanding halogen-free material.

Sleeves are available for cables with diameters from 5mm to 60mm, and are suitable for wall thicknesses of 3, 4 or 5mm.
