Will Norway win The World?
Having failed to reach an agreement with Nuovi Cantieri Apuania shipyard in Italy, Bahamas-based ResidenSea is believed to be close to concluding a deal with Fosen Mekaniske Verksted shipyard in Norway to build The World, the first of a new type of cruise ship with flats for rent.
Fosen is currently one only a few yards in Europe capable of building the highly complex, $260 million cruise ship in time to meet ResidenSea?s required time scale.
Originally an 85,000g design, the ResidenSea vessel is now expected to be somewhat smaller at around 40,000g, with upwards of 100 flats and more than 80 suites.
