Struggling yard wins order lifeline

Former East German shipyard Volkswerft Stralsund has won an order for a quartet of 2,900 TEU container ships, but has declined to name the ships? owner.

Due to be delivered in 2001, the newbuildings provide much needed work for the yard, which is close to completing a pair of 2,500 TEU container ships for Rickmers in Germany.
