European orders for Hyundai Mipo

In the last month, Hyundai Mipo Shipyard in Korea has won orders for newbuildings from Italy and France. Navigazione Montanari in Italy has ordered a pair of 35,000 dwt chemical carriers from the yard for delivery in 2001, while French offshore contractor Coflexip Stena Offshore has selected the yard to build a new type of ultra deep water pipelay and construction vessel which the company claims is the only one of its type to be capable of laying flexible as well as rigid lines in depths to 2,500m. The newbuilding is due to be delivered in January 2001.
