F-Ships ships ordered in Poland

Bylock & Nordsjofrakt (B&N) in Sweden and Palkkiyhtyma in Finland have ordered a pair of 14,800 dwt roll-on roll-off/lift-off (roro/lolo) vessels from Stocznia Gdynia in Poland.

Along with Finncarriers, B&N and its Finnish counterpart operate the F-Ships pool joint venture, carrying forest products and bulk cargoes across the North Atlantic.

B&N says the highly flexible newbuildings will be built to the highest ice class, and will be equipped with stern ramps and side-loading doors to handle rolling cargo. They will also be fitted with deck hatches for bulk cargoes and containers, and have a service speed of 17.5 knots based on an engine output of 12,600kW (16,890 bhp). With a length of 155.4m and beam of 25.6m, the new vessels will have a draught of 9m and cargo hold of approximately 21,730m3.
