Three vie for DMR
Three potential buyers are in negotiations to buy the bankrupt German engine builder DMR. The Polish engine builder H Cegielski is known to be interested, and another potential buyer is an unnamed German company which produces four-stroke engines.
DMR delivered its last engine to Volkswerft in August and lost an order to build the five engines for German-built P&O vessels to Korea, as the company was “nowhere near” the price offered by Hyundai. However a spokesman for DMR told The Motor Ship that the bidding companies must feel that there is a future for the company.
