Major engine repair

Importer

Repairs to the four Pielstick 12PC3V-480 main engines on DFDS passenger ferry Princess of Scandinavia are underway at MAN B&W`s Servicecenter Frederikshavn. The engines, which have logged about 160,000 running hours over the last 23 years, have developed cracks in the A frames.

Servicecenter Frederikshavn is acting as main contractor for the six month repair and overhaul project, and is working with other local contractors and companies in the MAN B&W group. All four main engine blocks are being removed for repair by the original builder, SEMT Pielstick, in France while camshaft and crankshaft repairs will take place at the MAN B&W`s Hamburg service centre. Frederikshavn will take care of all other engine work.
