Norway: The World comes to Fosen
Fosen Mekaniske Verksteder shipyard in Norway has confirmed that it has been awarded the much anticipated contract to build The World of ResidenSea, the 40,000g residential cruise vessel.
Due for delivery in December 2001 at a price tag of $260 million, The World Of ResidenSea will be home to 110 luxury apartments, of which more than 40 have been sold to date.
The 12-deck luxury vessel will sail a round-the-world itinerary focusing on extended stays – a total of 250 days per year – at some of the world`s most interesting destinations, including the Cannes Film Festival, the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, and the Grand Prix in Monaco.
At 196.34m overall, The World of ResidenSea will have a beam of 29.8m, draught of 6.7m, and maximum speed of 19 knots.
