Corrosion protection : BAC clocks up four years

BAC Corrosion Control`s impressed current cathodic protection systems have now been operational on Stena Line fast ferries operating between the UK, Holland and Ireland for four years.

The ferries are aluminium-hulled catamarans with water jet propulsion and additional protection is needed to prevent galvanic corrosion in the waterjets, due to the presence of stainless steel and copper alloys, says BAC.

After nearly four years of operation BAC says that no corrosion problems in the critical areas are being experienced.
