Software : Costing part manufacture
Boothroyd Dewhurst has launched DFM Concurrent Costing 1.1. The software is designed to isolate the major costs associated with part manufacture and finishing. Used as an analysis tool during part design the application guides product engineers as they investigate alternative materials and processes for producing parts and helps them select the most cost-efficient design, says the company.
It allows engineers to import solid models in order to obtain 3-D part geometry data for cost estimating.
The updated software also adds structural foam moulding, plastic extrusion, injection moulding, thermoforming and blow moulding – to the original set: cold and hot die casting, hot forging, powder metal processing, sand casting and investment casting.
