Water separator

The RCI fuel purifier is said to remove 99 per cent of water from MDO without the need for a full centrifuge system. Inside the purifier the chamber has a central vertical divider and the fuel is made to spin as it enters.

Spinning the fuel allows up to 98 per cent of particles above five microns to be separated out and settle at the bottom of the chamber, along with the water. Cleaned fuel rises over the centre divider and exits, while the water and particles are drained from the bottom of the chamber.

The largest units can handle flow rates up to 1,500 lit/min and costs under $6,000.
