KPN and Telstra to merge mobile satellite business

KPN, Royal Dutch Telecom of the Netherlands and Telstra of Australia are to merge their global mobile satellite communication businesses. KPN will hold 65 per cent of the shares with Telstra holding the remaining 35 per cent. The new company, headquartered in The Hague, will combine KPN`s satcom business and Telstra`s mobile satellite business under the Station 12 brand. It will deliver services to existing customers of KPN and Telstra and sell all Inmarsat and broadband services based on the Internet via satellite.
