Light-weight emergency beacon

Navtec has developed a portable emergency Inmarsat-E beacon that weighs less than 1,200g. Called the navtec epirb global-3 it has an alerting time of approximately three minutes and contains a GPS receiver for position indication via satellite. The unit can be used as stand-alone or can be supplied with a free-float mounting cradle and a separate remote control unit.
