Poland?s shipbuilding industry, which has tended to specialise in building smaller container ships in recent years, received an order boost in January in the form of a glut of contracts for Gydnia Shipyard.

Among the orders is a pair of 2,078 TEU vessels for Rederei Herm Dauelsberg in Germany. These newbuildings will be 188m overall with a breadth of 30m, and will be driven by Cegielski-Sulzer 6RTA72U engines, to provide a service speed of 21 knots.

Also ordered at the yard were a pair of 2,700 TEU vessels for Stefan Patjens in Germany, and two 1,850 TEU ships for Alpha Ship of Leer.
