Portable AIS Pilot Case

Saab Celsius TransponderTech has developed a portable AIS Pilot Case which, it says, is watertight to 10m and incorporates the company`s R3 AIS transponder.

The unit keeps track of the vessel and all other AIS-transponder equipped ships, calculates ETA, continuously broadcasts ship`s position, Speed, COG, GPS accuracy and sends and receives text messages, says Saab.

The pilot case is a self contained unit, incorporating the transponder, differential GPS, rechargeable batteries, external AC/DC power supply, wireless modem for connection to a portable presentation system and a portable laptop with ecdis.

The unit can operate up to seven hours without connection to external power, says Saab.
