Low-cost marine satellite service

SatCom Systems has introduced a marine satellite service that covers North American waters which, it says, offers calling charges as low as $0.99/min.

The network uses the TMI MSAT-1 satellite, whose footprint covers the entire North American continent from the North Pole to northern South America. The service area also extends to Bermuda, the West Indies, Central America, Venezuela, the Bering Sea, the Gulf of Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands, says SatCom.

Services include dial-up telephone, fax, circuit-switched and packet-switched data and dispatch radio.
