MES e-intelligent water tank

Importer

The Japanese shipbuilder Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding (MES) has delivered an unusual ?newbuilding? in the shape of an environment-intelligent water test tank. This state-of-the-art tank was delivered to Japan?s Port and Airport Research Institute (PARI). The tank recreates a virtual reality scenario involving the three elements of wave, current and wind. It overcomes the traditional tank problem of wave aberration at the edges and thus recreates conditions close to the actual sea environment. It is the first tank of its kind. The tank measures 36m x 29m x 1.3m (depth) and is fitted with 94 irregular multi-directional wave producing units each measuring 60cm wide. It is also fitted with 78 water jet nozzles to replicate tidal streams producing a maximum water velocity of 0.3m/s. For the wind element, five axial flow fan units are installed.
