Malta Dry Docks wins first FPSO
Malta Dry Docks (MDD) has been awarded a contract by Brovig-RDS of the UK, for the conversion of the tanker Northia into a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit for the Isis field off the coast of Tunisia. The contract is the first major oil and gas industry project to be undertaken by the yard for nearly 20 years, and follows hard on the heels of improved results at the yard. MDD will be working with Kvaerner in the UK and Expro of Canada who have designed and built the topsides oil and gas production plant for the FPSO. Poseidon Maritime, based in Aberdeen, Scotland, and Petromarine Consulting, based in Monaco, will assist with the conversion, which was due to start on 1 February.
