Ingalls wins more cruise orders

SeaAmerica has formalised its plan to build a pair of 1,000 passenger cruise ships for operation in US waters, and has agreed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Ingalls Shipbuilding division of Litton Ship Systems.

Detailed design of the 42,000gt newbuildings will be a joint effort between Ingalls, and SeaAmerica, which says it anticipates benefiting from loan guarantees for the construction of the ships under the Title XI loan guarantee scheme.

SeaAmerica intends to target the burgeoning convention/business market in the US using the new cruise ships, and will equip them with sophisticated conference facilities.

Ingalls is already under contract to build two 1,900 passenger cruise ships for American Classic Voyages Company.
