AESA benefits from LNG orders
Astilleros Espanoles (AESA) is to build an initial three LNG carriers for companies contracted to transport gas by Repsol, the Spanish oil company, and could also receive firm contracts for three more ships for Repsol, if options in the contracts are taken up.
Three consortia of shipping companies ? Knutsen OSA Shipping in Norway working with Marpetrol in Spain; Naviera F Tapias in Spain and British Dorchester; and Elcano and Gaz Ocean in France ? were the recipients of major contracts to transport gas on behalf of Repsol.
The Spanish company?s preference was to have the ships built in Spain ? construction will take place at AESA?s Sestoa and Puerto Real yards. Once in service, the LNGs will transport gas from production facilities in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean to Spain.
