No consensus on liner marking

Neither Wartsila NSD or Mitsubishi are marking the cylinder liners on its NOx certified low-speed engines. This is in contrast to MAN B&W which marks cylinder liners on its MC engines as a NOx-affecting component.

While MAN B&W?s low-speed side believes that cylinder liners have an effect on the NOx emissions, its medium-speed side does, not as the liners on certified four stroke engines are not marked. Again, Wartsila NSD is not marking its medium-speed engine liners, but MaK does.

The supply of replacement NOx marked parts is currently a matter of some debate and could be restricted to the original manufacturer or licensee.
