UK troops with Wärtsilä power

Wärtsilä has been awarded the contract to supply diesel generating sets for two new Bay class twin-screw diesel electric powered Alternative Landing Ships Logistic (ALSL) being built for the UK Navy. The four main diesel-generating sets in each ship will be powered by Wärtsilä 26s; each ship will have two 8L26 and two 12V26 engines. The company will also provide an emergency generating set for each ship. The two ships will be built at Swan Hunter; there is an optional contract for a further two to be built at BAE Systems Govan.
