Isolde docks at Remontowa

Polish shipyard Stocznia Remontowa has docked the 30,000 dwt car carrier Isolde for general inspection and maintenance work. Jobs carried out included hull treatment, sandblasting and painting of the ship?s two vehicle ramps. Other work included inspection of the car deck?s 55 ventilation heads, cleaning of the fuel tanks and inspection of the boilers. A similar job was carried out last year for the same owner, Wallenius Ship Management, on Isolde?s sister ship Medea. The shipyard is also nearing completion of a conversion job on two roro ships, Prerow and Lodbrog. The yard has equipped the vessels with an appliance for controlling cable tension, transport and repair. It has also installed four new 9MW electric generators and four tunnel thrusters on each vessel. It has installed new sponsons, thus widening the ships from 20.5m to 23.5m, and installed six cable tanks per ship. The yard has also replaced the vessels? superstructure.
