Modular probes store calibrations

The range of hand-held units for measuring marine coating thickness from Fischer Instrumentation is for applications where surfaces may be rough or not easily accessible or for large or heavy objects that cannot be moved. The units use a range of modular probes which store their calibrations and can measure soft, abrasive or complex coatings, says Fischer. The basic model is for applications where full onboard statistical analysis is not necessary. It has an integrated constant pressure probe for one-handed operation and comes in three models: the Permascope and Isoscope for ferrous and non-ferrous substrates; and the Dualscope, designed to determine automatically the substrate before making a measurement. The Dualseope MP40 combines the magnetic induction and eddy current methods in one instrument. It statistically evaluates a series of measurements and can store 100 applications for calibrations and up to 10,000 measurements, says Fischer. The instrument can be integrated with a computer or linked directly to a printer.
