RR Trent 30 launch

Rolls-Royce plans a formal launch of its Marine Trent 30 gas turbine early next year. The company says it will be able to deliver the Marine Trent 30, with a power rating of 36MW, from late 2003. The engine is a derivative of the Trent 800, which has clocked up more than two million flying hours on aircraft such as Boeing?s 777, and has 80% commonality with its aero engine counterpart. The Marine Trent 30 package, including enclosure and auxiliaries, weighs less than 26t. It is 8.9m long, 3.5m wide and 4.3m high.
